AriesMy lightweight, documented CMS without SQL

Documentation / Practical guide

Keep and recover

Backups, updates and leaving Aries.

Keep two things

Download a backup of content and uploads from Maintenance. Also keep the installed engine archive separately and away from the server. The backup ZIP alone is not a standalone website without PHP.

Restore on a copy first

Reauthenticate before restoring. Aries inspects the archive, checks hashes and prepares a transactional replacement. Restoration returns to the saved state, including removal of subsequently added files. Try it in an isolated directory before using it on your site.

Update the engine

Use a compatible signed update package after backing up. The updater checks the manifest, signature and files. This complete unsigned demo archive is for a separate installation; it is not an update ZIP.

Be able to leave

JSON files contain block data and saved HTML; media remain ordinary files. They can support a migration. This version does not provide automatic static export: moving to another tool still requires conversion work.
